Hey Savannah, they vary quite a lot, but are usually .5-1.5 square feet in size.

What is the weight? Will it work for the top piece of a knife sheath

Hey Cory! The weight is about 5-6 ounce (3/32" or so). You can absolutely use hair on cow scrap for a knife sheath, just make sure to like the interior with 2-3 ounce veg tan leather.

Scraps, please! I also ordered earth tone scrap leather-glove, those were scraps but beautiful. The hair on cow scrap, I got two pieces that were both decent size. I wish I would have received two different colors but no matter, they are both beautiful, good size, and hair is soft.
