After experiencing frustration with a long established, now internet based re-sole company (their new sole fell off in 9 months at a cost of $150.00 plus shipping), I thought I’d give it a try. A couple YouTube videos, mainly on how to remove and prep the shoes, I found Montana Leather Company. Great web site, very fair prices, and they had everything I would need to attempt my first re-sole. Long story short, it went better than expected… the key is really prepping the shoe, trimming and re-trimming the sole for a 95% their fit before glueing. I don’t have a belt sander, so I wanted the final edge to look good / smooth (enough for hiking shoes). I was nervous when I laid down the first sole, my to surprise, it looked and worked great! M.L.C. answered my most basic questions quickly… I’ve finished 2 pairs now and I’m just getting started. Who knew the bottom of a shoe could provide so much satisfaction!
