Pine pitch will give the leather a nice rich tone with a supple feel. This blend is the best of the best. I love it. It gives the leather a nice, almost velvety feel without losing any integrity. I’ve been using neatsfoot oil forever, and decided to give this a try. I tested it on several scrap pieces, comparing the neatsfoot oil side by side in different colors of veg tan. They’re close as far as darkening leather goes. You have to be deliberate on using either of them on lighter leather, but more so with the pitch to get an even tone. Pitch blend takes a lot less oil also. I’ll be using this pitch blend from now on. I can’t state enough how nice it makes the leather feel.
The belt and dog collar are natural Hermann oak veg tan with a couple light coats of pitch.
The holster is Mahogany with 3 coats of pitch. Really helped bring out the richness of the dye.
